A holiday spent building an orphanage

Viktor Lipps from the Digital Solutions department at HANSA-FLEX recently spent two weeks of his vacation in the Philippines helping to build an orphanage there. The new building is located in the “Village of Hope” in Morong, about two and a half hours from the capital Manila.

As part of aconstruction team the 30 year old travelled to the Philippines to provide support in various tasks, ranging from the foundations to welding the metal roof. The HANSA-FLEX Foundation supported the work with a donation of 1,500 euros for the purchase of materials.

About 60-70 orphans and street children from the slums of Manila and aged from four to adolescence are cared for in the “Village of Hope”. A team under German leadership accompanies the children into adulthood and prepares them to lead independent lives.

The “Village of Hope” is run by the Vision Help International Care Foundation (VHICF). This church relief organisation provides a range of social and medical services to the needy children of Luzon, the main island of the Philippines. In addition to the "Village of Hope" the VHICF also runs a “House of Hope” for babies and infants, as well as a daycare centre to combat malnutrition.
